Did you know that according to one Federation of Small Business
survery, only 20% of jobs are actually advertised at the Job Centre.
That’s only 1 in 5. So how do you get to apply for the rest without knowing someone that’s already on the inside?
One way is work experience.
It allows you to learn about careers without being bound by a contract. If you don’t know what to do with yourself, this is one of the best ways to learn more about what you are doing.
What are the advantages of work experience for the employer? Well for one the cost of hiring you is vastly reduced. They don’t have to worry about interviews, or the usual deadbeats from the job centre. It doesn’t cost them your wages to train you either.
Because of this there’s a 50-50 chance of you getting a job offer. It isn’t assured, but it’s certainly a possibility if they like you (and you like them).
How should you act or dress for a work experience placement? Look around, and do likewise.
