University?

Reasons to go to uni…  …and reasons not to.

My friends are going to university.

That’s not a reason. Don’t go!

I want to be a Doctor, I know what being a doctor involves and I know I must have a degree to be one.

Definitely go, Doctors are among the highest paid graduates.

I want to be a civil engineer, or a scientist.

Definitely go, you must have the mathematical knowledge to do these as careers. This must be acquired through university.
I’m interested in sociology, I enjoyed it at A-Level.

Don’t go! Read a book in sociology if it interests you.

I don’t know what to do with myself.

Do something else! There’s a high chance of you dropping out, or changing course, which is expensive.

Only go to university if you know what you want to be, and it’s a necessary path in achieving your goal.

Why does the government / New Labour support tuition fees?
